Next Sunday, my brother Kevin, sister Mary, I and our children will hold a fitting commemoration to our father and grandchildren will hold a fitting tribute to honour Óglach. Martin Meehan. The event will include the unveiling of a new mural in his beloved Ardoyne, alongside a few of his favourite songs and a few poignant words from an old comrade.

Our father defended Irish national sovereignty as well as countless communities against Unionist and British attacks. He also endured two lengthy Hunger-Strikes, was given the last rites twice by Priests after severe beatings from British troops, escaped from Crumlin Road Gaol returning to Active Service. He served over 18 years in Long Kesh, Mounjoy, Crumlin Road and the H-Blocks. His contribution to Irish freedom is legendary and we his children invite everyone to attend next week.
